There is a lot to think about when you are planning to hire some entertainment for your wedding reception. Do you want a live band, or would you prefer a DJ so everyone can have a dance at your wedding? What about an entertainer for the children, or even a magician or two to go around and entertain people at their tables with sleight of hand magic tricks?

Book as early as you can

Try not to leave booking your entertainment too late in the day. Leaving this important decision to the last minute will mean missing out on the best choice of band or entertainer for your wedding. In-demand entertainment gets booked up quickly for weddings, so when you eventually get around to choosing a band or a DJ, you may find you are met with very slim pickings.

The most popular wedding bands in Essex tend to get booked at least 12 to 18 months in advance of weddings, so your first choice may already be snapped up if your wedding date is looming near. Getting a quote from a band early will also mean that you have secured them at that price. Available Space and Restrictions

Make sure your wedding venue meets your needs. There is little point booking an 8-piece live band if the venue stage is only big enough to fit a 4-piece. You may face the opposite problem of having a DJ sitting in the corner of an enormous and cold looking dance floor. Think about the space available when you are choosing your venue, and imagine the function room full of your wedding guests and entertainment while you are there to see if it is suitable for your needs.

Also check with your chosen venue to establish if there are any restrictions applied, such as sound limiters or electric socket use. These would certainly have a big impact if you were planning on hiring a loud rock band for the evening!
